FIRST NH is a fun loving group of volunteers dedicated to helping FIRST teams in NH have a successful experience. There are a lot of volunteer positions available for individual events throughout the season. Those opportunities can be found by going to www.firstinspires.org and logging into your dashboard. You can then select local NH events to volunteer with. We also have volunteer opportunities that are all season long as part of the organizing committees. These opportunities are listed below. Paid Positions
The FIRST NH VISTA Opportunity
Seize the opportunity to give back to students wanting to learn more about STEM! Play a key role in the exciting expansion of FIRST® programs throughout the northern part of New Hampshire! Located onsite in Littleton, NH or work from your North Country home. You will work with FIRST New Hampshire (FIRST NH) staff and White Mountain Science, Inc. (WMSI) staff to build a foundation for sustainable growth of FIRST programs in rural, underserved communities.
Responsibilities:
- help us recruit and establish new teams within schools and community groups
- organize and facilitate networking events and training workshops for students and coaches
- help plan competition events for our northern NH FIRST teams.
While working alongside WMSI staff, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your own skills in non-profit management, project management, technology, education, event facilitation, and much more. You will ride-along with WMSI staff as they deliver quality STEM programs to the local schools and community groups, and you’ll learn from some of the best in the business.
Located in the heart of the White Mountains, you may also take advantage of the many engaging outdoor opportunities, including: world class skiing, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, rafting, and more! Plus, there are wonderful local dining, theater, and live music venues, along with several university and continuing education opportunities as well.

Qualifications:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, those recently retired also encouraged to apply
- Candidates must be able to serve on a full time (40 hours per week) basis for one year
- Candidates must be self-motivated team players, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Candidates must also be comfortable with computers, and be willing to be trained on all FIRST programs
- Local travel will be necessary, so candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle

Volunteer Positions
FLL
The FLL Explore Program Delivery Partner (PDP) is a volunteer role that supports the implementation of the FIRST LEGO League Explore program within New Hampshire. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Event Support – Support the FLL Explore festival host organizations as necessary, providing planning guidance, reviewer training, access to awards suppliers, etc., to ensure a positive experience for our teams.
Festival Expansion – FIRST New Hampshire currently hosts two major FLL Explore festivals, one at Hollis Brookline High School in December, and one at Bishop Brady High School in the Spring. As the NH program has grown, there is a need for additional festivals in other parts of the state. The FLL Explore PDP will be expected to recruit additional groups or FIRST teams to host festivals for those areas that do not currently have a local option.
Program Management – Communication to teams and to the FIRST New Hampshire team, oversee use of current promotional materials provided by FIRST, ensure compliance to all FIRST policies such as data protection, privacy, non-discrimination, Youth Protection.
Outreach Events – From time to time, FIRST New Hampshire will participate at conferences, workshops, and other outreach events, and it is expected that the FLL Explore PDP will participate in these activities and/or recruit teams and other volunteers as necessary.
Team Support – The FLL Explore PDP will work with NH FIRST Senior Mentor to support FLL Explore coaches with the FIRST information systems, ensuring that the coaches are able to effectively manage their teams and comply with FIRST policies.
Time Commitment – The FLL Explore PDP role is a part-time, volunteer position within FIRST NH, and the expected time commitment is up to 10 hours per month during the typical school year. There is a weekly 30-minute FIRST NH status call that the PDP will be expected to join.

Provide support and direction to qualifier tournament judge advisors, qualifier judges, championship event judge leads, and championship judges
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide training and associated resources (rubrics, judge questions, judge software, etc.) to local tournament judge advisors
- Provide training for Championship judges and judge leads
- Communicate with volunteers roles and responsibilities, time commitments, and tournament logistics information
- Recruit judges and judge leads for the State Championship Event
- Prepare paperwork for Championship Event (rubrics, judge questions)
TIME COMMITMENT:
July – January each year
Approximate times:
- Evening committee meetings August – November (1-2 hours each either once or twice per month)
- Lead online QT judge advisor training (once per year for 1-2 hours)
- Preparation time prior to event (varies based on event size)
- Evening prior to event to set up judge rooms, 4 hours
Event day, 7am to 6pm (including tear down)
TRAINING/REQUIREMENTS:
Prior to event, call in for FIRST conference call training and train your volunteers. Previous experience in role or acting as a shadow required.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Work with FIRST NH committee to reach out to schools and after school groups to set up FLL Challenge, Explorer, & Discovery teams. Provide resources/support to new teams and teams struggling to run throughout the year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify teams/areas of NH with no to little FLL teams and develop strategic plans to cultivate/start new teams for all 3 programs
- Provide support to new and struggling FLL teams
- Work with schools to implement Class Packs for FLL
- Help teams find solutions for funding, meeting spaces throughout the year, transportation, and other needs
- Partner with FLL Explore & Discovery programs to run events/recruit new Challenge teams
TIME COMMITMENT:
365 days
Approximate times: Varies throughout the year, but expect to be the busiest throughout the school year

Previous experience with FIRST’s programs desired, but not required.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead coordinator for Qualifier Tournaments in NH
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with FLL partners to set up dates & locations for Qualifier Tournaments
- Assist with placement of FLL teams into QT tournaments
- Provide training to Qualifier Tournament hosts
- Assist QT hosts with filling key roles/ensuring key roles are trained
- Provide tournament materials to QT hosts & assist with tournament scheduling
- Provide support as needed during QT tournaments
TIME COMMITMENT:
July – January each year
Approximate times:
- Evening committee meetings August – November (1-2 hours each either once or twice per month)
- Lead QT host training (once per year for 1-2 hours)
- Preparation time prior to event (varies based on event size)

Work with FLL partners to coordinate and run state championship for NH
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate all event material deliveries & payments (AV, table & chair rentals, trophies, BAE event material, etc)
- Work with volunteer coordinator, state head judge, and state head refs to ensure event is properly staffed
- Create and print all signage and other event materials
- Work with production lead to ensure VIPs and event speakers are coordinated for day of event
- Lead State Championship set up and tear down with FLL partners

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate all speakers for opening and closing ceremonies
- Create script to be used for state championship event
- Coordinate VIPs for day of event (including tours by students)
- Assist media lead with press that visit the event
TIME COMMITMENT:
July – January each year

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Post regularly on NH FTC Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook

- Weekly posts with emphasis on upcoming everts
- Attend events and post photos/videos to social media
TRAINING/REQUIREMENTS:
Prior experience posting to social media. Willingness to accept guidance about best practices
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reach out to VIP offices to schedule appearances/speaking opportunities at FTC events
TIME COMMITMENT:
August – February each year
Approximate times:
- Email communtications with VIP offices (1-2 hours/week)
- Preparation time prior to event (establish VIP parking, reception)
